The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Broadway in Tivoli, features artists painting on a square of pavement. About 250 artists participate each year. Most of the artists are current or former residents of Tivoli, with the rest coming from surrounding communities.

"It's a fabulous day," Susan Ezrati, the organizer of the event, said. "There are many who have been doing it for 10 years. "In December people come up to me and tell me they have their designs for next year already laid out."

One artist will be painting a portrait of Susan B. Anthony this year, Ezrati said. Artists range in age from 5 to 75, including a nephew of Andy Warhol.

The event will feature live music and does not feature commercial vendors.

"It's really just about applying chalk to pavement," Ezrati said.
